Goa statt Gaza
"Goa statt Gaza", a report of the German National TV ZDF broadcasted
on 12th March 2011, describes the situation of former
Israeli soldiers who after leaving the army go to Goa for a holiday
mixed with drugs and sex. Every year about 25.000 Israeli
ex-soldiers travel to Goa, many of them involving themselves with
drugs during their stay. Some Goans and Israelis estavlished in Goa
help those young men and women who are in difficulty such as Dr.
Jawaharlal Henriques, of St. Anthony's Hospital in Anjuna. Also
Hillik Magnus, a former Israeli spy, is doing his work mainly in
Goa, helping Israelis in trouble. But others like Avshalom Mor, a
permanent Israeli tourist in Goa, after helping drugged Israeli in
Goa try to bring them back to Israel, what can cost around 30.000
dollars. Even the Israel Government, tells the report, has
established offices in India to help Israelis to return to Israel. A
good work is also done by the Jewish Centre in Goa in Anjuna managed
by Israeli Alon Ron and financed by the Orthodox Jewish Community,
where Israelis come together every Friday.
